About
The KAWP Youth Performance Group is an inspiring ensemble of young performers dedicated to bringing meaningful stories to life through theatre arts. Open to talented youth ages 9 to 17, this group provides an enriching platform for students to develop their skills in acting, singing, and dancing, while performing in original productions that celebrate cultural heritage and values. Guided by experienced directors and mentors, members of the Youth Performance Group gain hands-on experience through dynamic stage performances, often exploring themes of resilience, community, and history. This group isn’t just about performing—it’s about growth, expression, and teamwork. Each production challenges students to dive deep into character work, choreography, and vocal expression, creating a cohesive and engaging experience for audiences and performers alike. Through participation in impactful plays such as Harriet: Take My Hand and Follow Me and Bone Soup: A Kwanzaa Story, these young artists build confidence, develop collaboration skills, and connect with meaningful storytelling that resonates with the community. The KAWP Youth Performance Group is a unique opportunity for youth to be part of a supportive artistic community, gain professional-level performance experience, and share powerful stories that inspire and unite.
